RSA in April 2026: amounts and rules
The Revenu de solidarite active (RSA) is the main French minimum-income benefit. Since 1 April 2026, monthly amounts (CAF, before logement forfait) are:
- **Single person, no child**: EUR 635.71.
- **Single person, one child**: EUR 953.56.
- **Single person, two children**: EUR 1,144.27.
- **Couple, no child**: EUR 953.56.
- **Couple, two children**: EUR 1,334.99.
- **Additional dependent child** (after the second): +EUR 254.28.
The RSA is conditional on age (25+ in most cases, or 18-25 with a child or sufficient prior work). Since 2026 reforms, recipients must register with France Travail and complete 15-20 hours per week of orientation or activity, per Service-Public.fr.
AAH 2026: amount and access
The Allocation aux adultes handicapes (AAH) supports adults with a disability rate of at least 50 percent (with restricted employment access) or 80 percent. From 1 April 2026:
- **Maximum AAH**: EUR 1,016.05 / month for a single adult.
- **Deconjugalisation**: since 1 October 2023, AAH is calculated only on the recipient's own income - the partner's income is no longer counted.
- The MDPH (Maison departementale des personnes handicapees) decides on disability rate; CAF pays the benefit.
APL housing benefit
The Aide personnalisee au logement (APL) helps low-income tenants and homeowners with first-time-buyer loans. The amount depends on rent, family composition, geographic zone and household resources. The 1.7 percent revaluation effective 1 April 2026 lifts the reference cap; CAF still uses contemporary income (revenus N-2 adjusted for the rolling 12 months).
APL is one of three housing aids - ALF (allocation de logement familiale) and ALS (allocation de logement sociale) follow the same revaluation rules. Households can simulate eligibility at mesdroitssociaux.gouv.fr.
How the revaluation works
Each year on 1 April, RSA, AAH, APL and several minima are uprated by the consumer price index over the previous 12 months excluding tobacco, as measured by INSEE. The 1.7 percent figure for 2026 reflects inflation observed between February 2025 and January 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the new RSA amount paid?
The 1.7 percent revaluation applies to April 2026 entitlements, paid by CAF in early May 2026 (RSA is paid in arrears, around the 5th of the following month).
Is AAH still calculated on the couple's income?
No. Since 1 October 2023 the AAH is deconjugalisee - only the recipient's own income is taken into account for the differential portion.
Can I receive RSA and APL at the same time?
Yes - RSA and APL are cumulative. However the APL paid is included in the *logement forfait* that reduces the RSA base, per CAF computation rules.
What does the 15-20 hour activity requirement mean for RSA?
Since 1 January 2025, all new RSA recipients must register with France Travail and follow 15-20 hours per week of orientation, training or job-seeking activity. Service-Public.fr details exceptions for disability, caring duties and children under 12.
How do I simulate my rights?
Use the official simulator on mesdroitssociaux.gouv.fr - it estimates RSA, AAH, APL, prime d'activite and other social rights from a single questionnaire.
What if my application is refused?
You have two months to file a *recours administratif prealable* (RAPO) with CAF. If still refused, the next step is the tribunal judiciaire (pole social) - see Service-Public.fr for the procedure.
